Returning to the Studio - Adult Classes

UPDATED 13/09/2020 - Face Coverings

In short:

  • You do not need to wear a face covering while taking your class unless you wish to do so.

  • You will not be able to wait for your class in the reception unless you are wearing a face covering.

  • No bags are to be brought into the studio.

  • You must wait outside the building until the start time of your class, complete track and trace on your way in, go straight to your floor marker to start your class.

  • You must leave the studio immediately after your class as you will not be able to stay inside without a mask after the period of strenuous activity is complete.

From the 14th September face coverings will be required in all indoor public places, for both customers and staff working in those indoor public areas. In Wales this includes in gyms and leisure centres.

The requirement will apply to everyone aged 11 and over – including customers and staff. However, you may have a reasonable excuse not to wear a face covering if (for example):

  • you are not able to put on or to wear a face covering because of a physical or mental illness, or because of a disability or impairment;

  • you are accompanying somebody who relies on lip reading where they need to communicate; or

  • you are escaping from a threat or danger and don’t have a face covering.

If you are not exempt from wearing a face covering you you will need to keep your face covering on at all times unless you have a reasonable excuse to remove a face covering temporarily. One reasonable excuse listed by the Welsh Government and supported by the WHO is during strenuous activity. However a face covering must still be worn when you go to a gym/leisure centre and you will need to keep it on depending on what you are doing.

"There may be circumstances where the layout of the premises and the nature of the exercise you are doing mean that it would not be reasonable to expect you to wear a face covering. The World Health Organisation advises against wearing a face covering when exercising as sweat can make a face covering become wet more quickly, making it difficult to breathe and promoting the growth of microorganisms. It advises the important preventative measure during exercise is to maintain physical distance from others."

Due to the layout of the studio, you will not be required to wear a face covering inside unless you are spending time in the reception area. As is generally the case with all classes, you will continue to wait outside the building until the start time of your class, at which time you will come straight in to the studio, go to your floor marker and start the class. You will not be able to wait inside reception unless you are wearing a face covering.

From Monday the 14th onwards you will not be able to bring a bag into the studio. As bags had to be kept in the small studio, the process of taking the bag into that studio and then coming back to start the class doesn't always make social distancing possible and would require a mask to be worn. Please only bring the essentials which can be put to one side while you take your class.

Original Post - 04/08/2020

We have a hopeful reopening date - August 10th 🤞🏼. This is still reliant on cases of coronavirus continuing to fall and we probably won't get confirmation of reopening until the day before. We are planning as if all will go to plan and keeping all of our fingers and toes crossed in the meantime.

As of the 4/8 we are still awaiting the governments reopening guidance and risk assessment checklist. We may therefore need to tweak the following, however here is everything you need to know when returning to the studio.

What will you be asked to do when returning to the studio?

  1. Partake in the Test, Trace, Protect scheme by filling out a form on arrival

  2. Adhere to social distancing guidelines inside and outside the studio

  3. Follow the entry and exit signs to allow for good traffic management around the studio.

  4. Complete a self-assessment for any COVID-19 symptoms before arriving at the studio.

  5. Use the hand sanitiser provided when entering and exiting the building and following good hand hygiene.

  6. Change at home - no changing will be allowed inside the studio

  7. There will be no refilling of drinks allowed at the studio, please ensure you bring sufficient for your lesson.

  8. Wait in your car until the class start time and then queue and enter the building in accordance with social distancing guidance.

  9. Only people with a pre booked space in a class are to enter the dance studio. Friends/parents to wait in their cars.

Test, Trace, Protect

To help keep all of our customers safe, Flame Dance Studios will be participating in the NHS Wales Test, Trace, Protect programme.

All customers, dancers and visitors must provide the information requested by the NHS Wales Test, Trace, Protect scheme. On arrival at the studio you'll be asked to enter a few details, enabling a tracing team to get in touch should you come into contact with an individual positive for Covid-19.

QR code signs can be located around and outside the studio which you can scan with your smartphone. Or, you can visit https://forms.gle/D36VGdYDigzWK2YJA and complete the form online.

We will maintain records of staff, customers and visitors to our premises for a period of 21 days. It will only be used to help trace people who may have been exposed to the virus, should an outbreak occur on our premises. We do not use any of this information for our own use. Please see our privacy policy for more information https://flamedancestudios.wixsite.com/website/privacy-policy

Social Distancing

As a business we are required to;

  1. take all reasonable measures to ensure that a distance of 2 metres between all adults and older children is maintained on particular premises;

  2. ensure that other reasonable measures are taken to minimise risk of exposure to the virus, in particular by limiting close face to face interaction and by improving hygiene; and

  3. provide information to those entering or working at premises about how to minimise risk.

Each area of the building has strict limits on the amount of adults that it can hold. Floor markers will be in place throughout the building showing where you are able to stand/wait/queue/dance.

Dancers need to have a 2m space around them. Therefore there is a limit on the amount of dancers allowed in each studio and strict spacing in place. Floor markers will show where each dancer needs to stand and dance for the duration of the class.

Every class will need to be booked in advance to ensure that there is available space for you in the studio. You will not be allowed to join a class that is fully booked.

To avoid face to face interaction we suggest that the teacher faces the mirror when teaching so that they have their back to the dancers. As much as possible they should reduce their interaction and demonstration with the class face on.

See below where studio floor markers will be placed. Each dancer has a 2m radius space around them.

One Way System

In an instance where a class is scheduled after another class we will be operating a one way system at the studio. You will enter through the main reception (the black framed glass doors), enter the big studio to partake in your class. Once class is finished you will leave through the double doors in to the small studio and out through the small reception (solid red door).

See diagram below.

Pre-attendance official symptom check

All customers, students and visitors must undergo a self-assessment for any COVID-19 symptoms before arriving at the studio.

Symptoms include;

  • a high temperature: this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)

  • a new, continuous cough: this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste: this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

No-one should leave home to participate in a class if they, or someone they live with, is symptomatic - or suspects they may have been exposed to the virus. They should immediately self-isolate (as well as their household and extended household), follow the Welsh Government’s self-isolation guidelines, and apply for a Coronavirus test.

Upon arrival, as part of the Test, Trace, Protect form you will be asked if you have completed a self-assessment for COVID-19 symptoms. Entry can be refused to anyone who is unable to provide assurance that they have done so and that to the best of their knowledge it is safe for them to take part. Anyone refused entry on this basis will be instructed to immediately self-isolate and to follow the steps set out above.

Further lockdown - local or national

There may be a need for short notice changes/cancellations and closure due to the overall threat level or community prevalence of COVID-19.
